I'm having some trouble using the Alt key when running Pro Tools. At first, I only ever noticed this because I couldn't use Alt+Tab to switch from Pro Tools to another application in Windows. It was a minor annoyance, but I just accepted using the taskbar to switch applications. However, I recently started using iZotope Ozone again (I was a big fan of version 3 some years back). I bought a new license, installed and tried to use one of my favorite features, the 'Alt-Solo' EQ auditioning. This allows you to put your mouse pointer in the EQ spectrum window, hold the Alt key and hear only that portion of the spectrum (defined by a customizable Q).

This doesn't work. The Alt key is having no effect. This, combined with the Alt+Tab problem has led me to believe that Pro Tools must be swallowing presses of the Alt key instead of letting them be handled by Windows or Ozone or whatever else. Has anyone else experienced this or, more importantly, know how to fix it? Ozone support answered my question with a regurgitation on how to click and press Alt at the same time. I know how to use a mouse and keyboard, and in the standalone version of Ozone, the Alt key works just fine.

I started with a new PC, i7 Intel processor, installed Win 8, PT 11 and then Ozone 6, Nectar and Alloy 2, Alt-solo functions at first but mysteriously quit working. I have even made disk images of the OS drive when everything was working and have been able to restore the system when alt-solo stops working in PT.

(Alt-solo continues to work fine in the stand alone version of Ozone.) I have turned off Windows updates and track any added programs or program updates but haven't found a specific cause. It is very frustrating.

Izotope support is aware of the problem, but don't seem very motivated to find a solution. If anyone has any insight to a work around please jump in and let us know. It's a great plug in and alt-solo is a very useful tool that I would like to be able to use.
